Diabetes is a chronic condition whereby the ability of the body to process the insulin hormone is deformed, leading to an unusual metabolism of carbohydrates and high levels of glucose in one’s blood. Insulin, a hormone produced by the pancreas, enables glucose attained from the consumed food to take receipt of the blood stream into the body cells and in return use it as energy.
Types of Diabetes
- Type 1 Diabetes.
Type 1 Diabetes can evolve at any time, but mostly affects children and adolescents. Such patients lack insulin or may produce little hence require insulin injections daily to sustain glucose levels in their blood.
- Type 2 Diabetes.
It is mostly found in adults and covers 90% of diabetic cases. People with this type of diabetes faces problems when using the produced insulin. Increased physical exercise, a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle are some of the treatments for Type 2 Diabetes.
- Gestational Diabetes or GDM.
This entails a rise in blood glucose during pregnancy period and affects the child and mother. GDM normally fades after pregnancy even though the patients may develop same disease later.
Prediabetes is when one has high blood sugar level than required. This may lead to the other types of diabetes.
Effective ways to Reverse Diabetes:
a) Bariatric Surgery.
This involves changes made to the digestive system purposely for weight loss. In such a surgery, the stomach is decreased in size, and one can only consume small portions afterwards. The negative effect of Bariatric surgery is complications and change of diets henceforth.
b) Physical Exercise.
Doing a 60minutes aerobic exercise either five or six times a week increases the sensitivity of the body towards the insulin hence reverse diabetes or insulin resistance.
c)A Healthy Diet.
Eating a healthy diet helps in balancing your blood sugar level and improvement in liver detoxification. This in return reverse diabetes and insulin resistance. Meals enriched with fiber, fruits and vegetables are some of the recommended diets. One can consume beans, omega-3 fish, nuts and seeds, soy products and olive oil. All these are perceived as detoxifying, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant foods that help in reversing Diabetes.
Stress is related to sugar imbalances hence leads to Diabetes and insulin resistance. One can engage in relaxation activities, hot baths, massage, meditations, continuous muscle relaxation, meditation, making love or yoga to manage stress.
Some of the recommended medications for Diabetes include:
- Alpha-Glucosidase Inhibitors- these entails miglitol and carbose which helps in lowering the integration of carbohydrates and sugar in the intestines. This in return reduces the integration of sugar after eating.
- The Biguanides – This helps in lowering blood sugars by advancing your body cells reaction to the insulin hormone.
- Thiazolidinedione – This consist of Actos and Avandia, which improves absorption of glucose into the body hence one becomes sensitive to insulin.Thiazolidinediones are classified into two groups Rosiglitazone also known as Avandia and Pioglitazone also referred to as Actos. These two drugs can lead to liver damage and weight gain.
The above measures should be taken into consideration by anyone who is battling Diabetes with the hope of completely reversing the disease.
