Today am going to advise on how to raise a baby as a new mom. It is a very difficult and wonderful experience ever. (am going to describe both genders as she).
Babies are blessings in one’s life. Whether is a girl or a boy. They come into our lives to bring joy and make our families complete. New parents tend to be confused on how to handle newborn or how to keep them healthy without any mistake but do not worry about that anymore because am here to help in every possible way.
Firstly let me start by congratulating you as a new mum for bringing a life into this beautiful world. Now after giving birth, you start by knowing how to carry your baby and remember at this moment the baby is very fragile. So put your left arm from her head towards her back so you can support her head and back and your right arm from the legs towards her neck. Always support your baby’s head and neck.
Second, feed your baby by carrying her the same way and sit upright, then breastfeed her by holding your breast gently so as not to block your baby’s nose while breastfeeding. Make sure you insert the whole black part of your breast while breastfeeding and not only the nipple because it might get swollen. After feeding her, put your baby upright. Her head on your shoulder to burp. Always have a feeder in case she vomit.
Thirdly, there is no need to bathe your newborn every day. Three times a week might be enough until she becomes more mobile. Bathing your baby too much can dry out her skin. In the first year of your baby’s life, you do not need to bathe her daily but as she grows, she may require more frequent bathe as they get messier or start having fun in the tub.
Fourth, when it comes to sleeping, babies tend to sleep a lot during the day than at night time. But newborns do not sleep throughout the night without waking up until at least three months. As a mom, you should be sleeping with your baby when she sleeps because when she wakes up you will not get any other time to rest. Once you give birth, say goodbye to your sleeping schedule because, at this time, your main focus is your daughter.
Last but not least, always wash your hands before handling your baby because she is at risk of getting infections since they do not have a strong immune system yet. Make sure everyone who handles your baby has clean hands. Your baby’s things should also be kept neatly.
Despite the challenges, you will go through as a new mom, always remember it is also the best feeling and experience ever having a bundle of joy beside you. Some mums will have people who will help them during this period and some will not have anyone to help them but at the end of the day what matters is trying your best to keep your baby safe from any danger.
